KC Based SKC Communications Expands

SKC Communication Products LLC has acquired two communication technology companies that will expand its videoconferencing and equipment capabilities.

SKC was founded in 1986 as the first headset distributor for Plantronics Inc. It is Plantronics’ largest distributor as well as a provider of voice, video and audio/visual technologies.

The company reached an agreement with Ahern Communications of Boston to acquire Ahern’s clients. Ahern’s founder, Dana Ahern, decided to close the business after 25 years of operation.

The company also has purchased MPact Systems Inc., of Rock Hill, S.C., and acquired all of MPact’s employees. MPact’s Rock Hill office has become the Southeast regional headquarters for SKC’s operations.

All of the transactions were effective Jan. 1.SKC now has more than 230 employees across the country.
